The day to day Covidity
Lol, yeah… Covidity. For many of us these days would be struggling, for other many it would be an opportunity and there would be few more people for whom its just normal, like just another day.
Firstly, I do not intend to write corona diaries, but just to share few instances, to which we all our struggling. I would like to share few stories, shared by my friends and family, and of course me.
I actually wanted to start with the Lockdown stories, but I’m Indian umm… North Indian. So my stories will have a good use of firstly Hinglish language and peculiar touch of Delhite behaviour. Aahan… I live in Delhi, India.
To Delhi ki khass baat kya hai… North Indian food? Nopes
So, what’s special about the Delhi… North Indian food? Nopes
Chandni Chowk… umm, yes but only for shopping.
Qutub Minar… it should be, but no.
Okay, let me tell you its the maid. Maids na har Delhite, khaskar families ki subtle Jaan hai (Maids are the subtle internal strength of every Delhite, especially families).
Since, we had this lockdown, we missing them badly. The happiness of husbands and kids being home is just adding a little more misery to the women at home… Yeah, true that… Lol. Every Indian women can understand the pain of being Maidless. It’s just a little more than being hopeless and helpless. The situation is like husbands, brothers, fathers, more of this breed is always working (yeah, working from home it is) and kids at home always hungry and bored. Maids are the subtle internal strength of every Delhite, especially families.
Before Covidity the topic in the whatsapp group used to be kitty parties, office politics, makeups, and every other possible gossips. Nowadays, the common topic is Covid and its covidity.
To mere saath kya hua, I mean hum sabke saath… Maid to thi, maid to tankha bhi di par, jo kaam kar rahe the woh hum hi the. hahahaha. To iss time, kuch meri dosto ne pray kiya bhagwan Husband ko office bhej do par uske badle ghar mai maids la do. Kuch ne to ye bhi bola, bhagwan… apke padne mai galti h gayi, mahine nai din bola tha, ek bar phir repeat kar deti hu “Kuch din ke liye Pati ko ghar pe rehne do”.
So what happened with me, I mean with all of us. Maids were there, and they were even paid off their salaries, but it was us doing all the household chores. Women at home were praying that God let my husband go to office but please me have my maid home. Few even tried to reiterate themselves, God I pray for days not month “I want my husband home just for few days”.
These goddess Durga can bear anything but loss of Maid, is literally unbearable. Poor ladies… Just to add a little more tragedy to their life, comes the office life. Wow, WFH (Work From Home)… To this I’ll just add a little information that there’s always a time to start but no time to stop. Some are teachers, some are in IT industry, some are in customer care, and whatnot. And no MAID. So you do the office work, and a little of cooking (includes all meals), a little of sweeping, a little of the dishes, a little of the children, a husband, a mother-in-law, and few more in-laws… Matlab sab ne milke laga di or to or Maid na mili (Means everyone added to the misery but got no Maid).
I think rest of the pain is now understandable…
Tune-in for more such readings, till then… Cheers!!!
